DIY Biscuits
What is the DIY Biscuit?
The DIY Biscuit is a free alternative to an official Biscuit device. When we made the Biscuit Pro we didn't want the price of the device to be the barrier to trying out the software. So we got to work on the DIY Biscuit firmware, a modified version of the Biscuit Pro/Ultra firmware that merges the dual-MCU code into a single device. There are some trade-offs in performance and a few features that can't be ported, but it's our best effort at bringing the software to you for free.
How do I make a DIY Biscuit?
You'll need an ESP32 C5 module with at least 8MB Flash + 8MB PSRAM. These modules are very affordable, and you can get started for less than $10-15 USD. Here are a few compatible modules:
Standard Dev Board

Waveshare Dev Board (with LiPo circuit)
amzn.to/4y5K17R
T-Dongle C5

XIAO ESP32C5 — community favorite for compact builds and nodes

And that's it! You really don't need anything else to get started. You can design your own case, or find popular community cases on MakerWorld and Printables by searching DIY Biscuit.
Once you have your dev board, head to the web flasher at flasher.biscuitshop.us and follow these steps:
- Hold down the boot button and plug your C5 module into your computer.
- Select the appropriate COM port.
- Select the appropriate DIY firmware for the board you chose.
- Proceed to flashing.
The App
Once you've flashed your DIY Biscuit, the device should show up in the app and you can get started wardriving or testing out some of the WiFi and BLE tools.
The Community
People who buy the official Biscuit devices or contribute to my Patreon help support the development of the DIY Biscuit firmware. It's something that will always stick around, and as the Biscuit platform develops, we're bringing the DIY folks with us.
